Jan Chetna Manch Bokaro has been actively engaged in research since its inception, focusing primarily on women's health. Our research covers childbirth, abortion,

traditional birthing practices, pregnancy and postpartum care, and access to government benefits during delivery.

We are currently engaged in a study to assess JCMB’s initiatives to enhance the positive involvement of men during pregnancy and childbirth. Through this intervention we aim to improve maternal health outcomes. This study is being supported by the Azim Premji University.

‘Training’ has been an integral activity for JCMB since its inception, as both a necessity and principal. In the sphere of health, almost all of the health care team has been trained here in the women’s health centre. We have been fortunate to been supported in our endeavors by health care professionals – doctors and midwives. Since 2001 over 25 health centre workers and 75 community based health guides – swasthya sakhis – have been trained by JCMB’s initiative to empower local women to provide health care to other women of their community. From the last decade every two years a group of village women are selected for training as health centre assistants, and every 2 – 3 months the swasthya sakhis are invited for learning new skills and information. These women are the backbone of JCMB’s healthcare programme for women. Resulting from this experience, JCMB also provides training and exposure for other organisations that are involved with community health, particularly women’s health. Some of the organisations that have come for such training are:
